Ashwagandha, also known as Winter Cherry or Indian Ginseng, is a small shrub with yellow flowers that is native to India and North Africa. Its roots have been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. In Sanskrit, it means “smells of the horse”, which refers to the rich, earthy smell of the roots. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, which means that it helps the body manage stress.


Adaptogens are an important component in Ayurveda. Although they have been used for thousands of years, the term “adaptogen” itself wasn’t used until the 1960s.   1. Bring water to a boil. Turn to medium heat.

  2. Add brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, and ashwagandha powder. Mix until the sugar completely dissolved.
